Drink Driving Offences

Each state of Australia has specific offences relating to the driving of motor vehicles. Our lawyers have experience in Queensland and New South Wales in all traffic related offences.

It is an offence in Queensland to drive, be in charge of or attempt to put in motion any vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is also a serious offence to drive a vehicle after your licence has been disqualified. The same position exists in New South Wales

Penalties for drink driving, or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are determined by the type of licence you hold at the time of the offence , the level of the alcohol reading, and whether or not it is your first, or subsequent offence. The range of penalties increase as your reading increases depending on your Blood Alcohol Level (QLD) or Blood Alcohol Content (NSW).

Primarily the reading will influence the penalties imposed by the Courts but after that the quality of representation you choose can determine the amount of time you spend off the road. How your matter is presented to the Court following your arrest is extremely important.
